Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honorable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst. Isaiah 5:13 (KJV)
"Wherever there is abuse of anything, there is the lack of knowledge about that thing." Ignorance has been the ultimate cause of most of the woes of humanity. Let's look at a short summary of how diamond was discovered in South Africa.
"In 1867 South Africa's first diamond, later called the Eureka , was discovered on the banks of the Orange River near Hopetown by 15-year-old Erasmus Jacobs. He was playing around on his father's Northern Cape farm at the time and a pretty transparent rock caught his eye. It was a neighbor, Schalk van Niekerk, who identified this 'rock' as a diamond ."
These diamonds must have been there for ages and were played with by kids for a long time. We abuse things when we are ignorant of its use indeed. This is what God has to say about our attitude towards seeking knowledge -
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being My priest. Since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.
Hosea 4: 6
Many of our current situations is as a result of the lack of knowledge. If only we will seek knowledge. Many people don't read books and many people from certain parts of the world don't like reading books. They are often ruled by those who read and write books. The Creator of the earth is commanding us to read! and to seek after knowledge! There are laws governing prosperity and money, there are laws governing marriage. There are laws governing the sex and all aspects of life. We sometimes don't get the right results not because we have not worked, ... but because we either did not follow the principles or we never knew it in the first place.
Today, I want to encourage you to spend money to buy books and read them.
The mind of the prudent acquires knowledge, a nd the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.
Proverbs 18:15
The mind of the intelligent seeks knowledge, But the mouth of fools feeds on folly.
Proverbs 15:14
Wise men store up knowledge, But with the mouth of the foolish, ruin is at hand.
Proverbs 10:14
You must understand one thing ... which is; if you don't read, you can't lead anyone. All good leaders are good readers. And most poor leaders have very little understanding and therefore have small volume of knowledge. If only you'll start searching for wisdom by reading books, your life will change. Many of the things we're struggling with now are things that have already been written about.
Perhaps the solution to your problems is right at your disposal but because you lack knowledge, you are fruitless in certain areas. Read!
Become a successful human being by reading the Word of God as well as Christian books. Stop talking about books and start reading. Stop looking at the Bible like a religious book and start looking at it as the instruction manual for your life. Allow God to instruct you through His Word.
Even a sensitive subject like slavery is as a result of lack of knowledge. In a book: A Good General by Dag Heward-Mills, the chapter 7 of the book talks about how only an equilibrium leads to the suspension of war. When war erupts, it will only suspend when the two extremes know that the other person is well equipped to defeat him. In the same way, in the face of a situation, your ability to overcome that situation depends on the amount of knowledge you have.
Read the Word of God and read Christian books as well.
