"I have a lot of time to change; Christ is not really coming soon"
I know you may have said this phrase before, heard someone say it before or maybe it occured to you as a thought. It looks or sounds convincingly true. I mean, think about it - it has been more than 2,000 years since Jesus promised His return and we're yet to see a sign of His appearance. 

The world is truly amused when we say that "Christ is coming soon". They think it is a theory cooked up by some deranged people. On the other hand, some Christians know that Christ's Second Coming is a reality however, they think that it won't happen very soon or at least not in their lifetime.  They suppose they can enjoy themselves and forget about the future. But what they forget is that Christ's coming will be a very unexpected event.

"...the day of the Lord so cometh AS A THIEF IN THE NIGHT. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape."

1 Thessalonians 5:2-3

Jesus compares his coming to the coming of a thief. No one expects a thief. I remember years ago, around December 2012 when my aunts were attacked and their bags and phones snatched by thieves on motorbikes after they had come to visit and were returning home.  We were not expecting anything of that sort, but it just happened. The whole world will be very surprised when Jesus comes again. Many of you have taken God's grace period of repentance for granted. Indeed, this grace period is the time that we should use to prepare. The grace period has rather become more time to play the “fool” instead of repenting and preparing for His coming. This is how backsliders and unbelievers think. I have more time! I have much more time!! In case you are looking for a very dramatic event before the coming of Jesus in order to "quickly" repent and be ready, the Bible says;

"As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, PEOPLE WERE EATING AND  DRINKING, MARRYING AND GIVING IN MARRIAGE, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man."
