A medium is an agency or means of doing something or a means of communicating through to another person who you usually cannot see or have no means of getting through to directly. In some terms. Whoever conducts the act is called a mediator, an advocate, middleman or a "betweener".
God considers mediation as a dangerous power and is very sensitive about media . We are warned throughout the scriptures about the usage of the wrong media and the abuse of that power. Men throughout history have always sought for media through which communications can be made or to know what will happen in the future. Won't it be nice to know what will happen tomorrow?
God is against the use of unauthorized media because He made us and He decides which medium is appropriate to get to Him. God wants direct contact with His creation and therefore appointed right media through which we can get through to Him. No wonder Jesus said he is the way - He had to say that because he knew there were other ways which do not lead to the father and so to clarify, he said he is THE WAY, not a way. “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14: 6 . Why do we know Jesus is the only way? We know he is the way because he is the only person who came down from heaven. For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me - John 6:38 (NKJV). Jesus constantly said he came down from heaven - and so to go to heaven, you have to trust the ambassador who came from heaven just the same way, to go to the USA, you'll have to go to the embassy established by the government of the United States whith an ambassador sent from that country for your visa and not any other country.
"Don't trust any embassy representing a kingdom or a
country with an ambassador who is not from that
country or kingdom. "
Whatever stands between you and God is dangerous because it can connect or disconnect you from gaining access to God. The Bible comments on the power of the media in Leviticus 20:27 “'A man or woman who is a medium or spiritist among you must be put to death. You are to stone them; their blood will be on their own heads. '” In other words, if they are mediating and are not representing me, kill them - now this is a tough law. 1 John 4 also has this to say Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God ... " This is how dangerous media are to God. Human beings have to know "that there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus - 1 Tim 4: 5"
Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead - Deut 18: 10-11.
What it means is that God says you're trying to get information from me through someone I didn't send and so you are an abomination. God gave apostles; and, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers not some "mama divine" ... etc. These people are not between God and you and therefore do not represent God and doing so means you're putting these unauthorized ways to get to Him - God.
Lets's look at two people who used different media in the bible and their results
King Saul, a ruler of God's people employed other ways rather than what God prescribed which is to consult Him directly. It is important for human beings to master the art of hearing from God our maker so we can do exactly what He says and not what other spirits say. Saul then said to his attendants, "Find me a woman who is a medium, so I may go and inquire of her." - 1 Samuel 28: 7 . Let's see what happened to King Saul for doing this in 1 Chronicles 10: 13-14 Saul died because he was unfaithful to the Lord; he did not keep the word of the Lord and even consulted a medium for guidance , and did not inquire of the Lord. So the Lord put him to death and turned the kingdom over to David son of Jesse . Today, a lot of marriages are falling apart because of the medium used to get information about marriage. Where do you get your information about life from? what medium do you use? Saul died by suicide but because he consulted the wrong media medium.
Now, let's observe the life of King David who replaced Saul. He used the right media, constantly talking to God in songs and psalms long before he even became King and he always consulted God and being grateful always. The largest songbook of the Bible is written by this same man, King David. He even consults God through the right media as to if he should or should not go to war.
Then David said to Abiathar the priest, the son of Ahimelek, "Bring me the ephod." Abiathar brought it to him, 8 and David inquired of the Lord, “Shall I pursue this raiding party? Will I overtake them? ” - 1 Samuel 30: 7
No wonder he is said to be a man after God's own heart.
" For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people ... "
